The City of Raleigh is seeking an Instrument Operator devoted to providing paraprofessional engineering support, inspection and professional civil engineering for a variety of public works and environmental functions and projects.
- Provides semi-skilled and skilled technical support of assigned function which may include coordination of volunteer program providing stream cleanup and drain marking activities; and/or performing survey work to update boundary lines in preparation of sites construction
- Collects, organizes and maintains data; verifies data accuracy; monitors data to ensure availability for analysis and reporting
- Prioritizes and schedules labor activities; prepares site, calibrates equipment and coordinates related resources for field work which may include sampling activities, water quality testing and/or taking measurements and recording results
- Prepares and maintains documentation, records and/or educational and summary information related to area of assignment; updates and maintains standard operating procedures
- Monitors and maintains assigned equipment and supplies inventory; initiates supply requests and/or equipment maintenance requests as needed

High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience related to assignment

Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and frequent exposure to intense noise.
