We are searching for an enthusiastic Senior Maintenance Technician who will serve as team lead under the weekend Field Supervisor. You’ll be directly responsible for maintaining right of way cleanliness and enhancing Downtown Raleigh’s quality of life.

About Us: Transportation Downtown Services’ core mission is to ensure Downtown Raleigh’s public spaces and right of way are clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing, providing a high level of customer service 7 days a week. As essential employees, extended hours and days are required during holidays, special events, seasonal maintenance responsibilities and weather-related or emergency responses.
- Street sweeping, requiring early morning hours before regular team start times
- Additional operations responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Daily sidewalk coverage to collect litter, stickers and small graffiti
- Power washing
- Year-round leaf collection
- Removal of debris, sidewalk vegetation and sediment
- Snow/ice removal during weather events
- Serve as Special Events backup team representative for planning and debriefing meetings. Team lead for safety barrier placement and onsite management.
- Data collection and Cityworks reporting, tracking time, labor and materials. Report safety issues to supervisor
High School Diploma or GED and three years of assignment-related equipment operation/driving or specialized maintenance experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Experience operating heavy equipment
- Knowledge of Cityworks
- Certification in a skilled trade (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
- Backflow certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to walk up to 10 miles daily, performing heavy manual labor in all types of weather
- Familiarity with mobile devices and basic office software programs
- Ability to read maps and organize information specially
- Uses and properties of landscaping and maintenance equipment
- Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices
- Commitment to Weekend Team assigned schedule of Thursday-Monday
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and frequent exposure to intense noise.
