This Service Worker position supports the Core Services and Special Services divisions within the Solid Waste Services Department. Depending on the assignment, this position provides labor required to load garbage, recycling and yard waste materials into vehicles for disposal.
The Solid Waste Services Department provides residential curbside collection of garbage, recycle, yard waste and a variety of specialized services. The Department works proactively to reduce waste and to increase recycling in Raleigh, while demonstrating a commitment to sustainability in all areas of the operations.
- Collect waste on daily routes from the back of the collection truck.
- Load recycling, yard waste, and garbage materials into the back of a rear loader truck.
- Assists equipment operator with backing the vehicle into refuse/recycling areas.
- Assists equipment operator with the cleaning and upkeep of the vehicles.
- Collect waste from backdoor service locations and curbside containers for loading into rear loader trucks
- Deliver, repair, assemble and remove collection carts.

High School Diploma or GED and one year of maintenance or customer service experience related to assignment.

Licensing/Certifications
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
