Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Answers the telephone and responds to questions from fellow staff members, citizens, and other third-party callers. Routes calls to other staff members, as appropriate, and takes messages.
- Greets visitors, performs basic screening and visitor tracking, answers questions, and refers visitors to other staff members when needed.
- Performs basic data entry into spreadsheets and/or using departmental specific software.
- Provides office and clerical support in assigned area; Reads and routes incoming mail.
- Monitors and maintains supplies inventory and equipment; notifies appropriate resource of supply needs
- Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

- Provides internal and external reception and customer service by answering and prioritizing calls, greeting customers and providing information and services related to assigned area; responds to inquiries, complaints and requests for information; assists with forms; takes messages; and refers customers to appropriate resource. Assists with mail sorting and distribution.
- Provides clerical and administrative support activities for special projects or assignments.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED and two years of related clerical and/or office support experience
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a basic working knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
Certifications, Licenses, Registration
May be required to have a valid NC Class C driver's license or a CDL, dependent upon area of assignment.
