Job Description




In the role of Trades Maintenance Specialist, you’ll ensure the maintenance and operation of our exceptional convention center and amphitheater. This role is devoted to providing excellent repair, maintenance, and emergency response to keep our world class venues running!

The Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Center (RCPAC) has an amazing team of people who operate four unique venues – Raleigh Convention Center, Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, Red Hat Amphitheater, and Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. Our goal is to lead the way for others in our industry and provide exciting events to the City of Raleigh, including concerts, unique conventions, and expos. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced maintenance, repairs and testing of HVAC, electrical and/or plumbing equipment and facilities. Operates required tools and equipment to perform work in accordance with operational and safety policies and procedures
  • Receives, prioritizes and schedules maintenance and work requests. Determines required tools, equipment and supplies and identifies and requests supplies and inventory
  • Responds to customer requests and concerns. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and identifies issues; recommends and implements corrective action, repairs and/or equipment replacement to resolve issues
  • Monitors work provided by vendors and contractors; reviews work to ensure it meets specifications, contractual obligations, quality standards and safety requirements
  • Inspects equipment, tools, materials, facilities, building systems and/or grounds to ensure functionality and safety. Secures and opens facilities/spaces and reports and/or corrects issues to resolve operational deficiencies and/or unsafe conditions
  • Prepares, organizes and maintains records, logs, reports and documentation. Monitors supplies and parts inventory and initiates requests of stock to replenish inventory

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Associate Degree in area of assignment and three years of experience in area of training, with prior instructional or lead worker experience in the subject being taught

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

  • Working a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as determined by venue events
  • Operating assigned tools and equipment
  • Performing equipment and facility inspections and monitoring safety conditions
  • Comprehending reference books and manuals

ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and frequent exposure to intense noise.
