Primary Objective of Position
Police Officers maintain order, keeping the peace and responding to citizen's needs by discouraging crimes through high-visibility policing, investigative capability and the subsequent reporting and apprehension of suspected violators of the law. The position reports to the Police Sergeant.
This is an LELS Union position.
The 2025 wage scale is as follows : Step 1 : $37.786 / hour - Step 2 : $38.754 / hour - Step 3 : $43.599 / hour - Step 4 : $46.021 / hour - Top $48.443 / hour
The 2025 longevity wage scale is as follows : After 5 : $49.412 / hour - After 8 : $50.381 / hour - After 12 : $51.350 / hour - After 16 : $52.318 / hour

Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or equivalent qualifications meeting the State of Minnesota's requirements to become an Officer
- Must possess POST license or be POST license eligible
- Must possess a valid Minnesota driver's license, or when residing in another state, a valid driver's license from that state
- Must be a citizen of the U.S. or eligible to work in the U.S. under federal requirements
- Must satisfactorily pass a physical agility test
- Must satisfactorily pass a criminal history check
- Must satisfactorily pass a psychological examination
- Must satisfactorily pass a physical examination and drug screen
