What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Traffic Operations Worker position at City of Rapid City?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the application of traffic paint and pavement markings.
- Assist with traffic sign installation.
- Assisting with clean-up and end-of-day maintenance of paint sprayers and stencils.
- Carrying and hauling supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- A valid driver's license is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
This position involves active, hands-on work. While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to handle materials and equipment. Frequent activities include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities needed include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
This is an outdoor position with regular exposure to varied weather conditions and vehicular traffic. Employees will also frequently encounter moving mechanical parts and vibration and may occasionally be exposed to:
- Wet and/or humid conditions
- Fumes or airborne particles
- Toxic or caustic chemicals
- Extreme heat
- Risk of electrical shock
The noise level is typically loud, and work hours are primarily overnight and early morning.
