What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Attendant position at City of Redlands?
- Cleans and maintains animal kennels and surrounding areas including floors and hallways;
- Maintains inventory and notifies supervisor of any supplies that are required;
- Assists Animal Health Technician, Veterinarian, and Animals Control Officers with vaccinations of animals and kennel placement;
- Feeds, waters and provides enrichment to animals;
- Inspects animals for sign of sickness and disease;
- Maintains effective and positive relations with the public and other agencies;
- Provides direction to volunteers or temporary staff; and
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- A minimum of six months of work experience involving animal care, custodial duties, or customer service.
- Experience working directly with animals is preferred.
- Equivalent to a high school diploma.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license at the time of hire.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Euthanasia Certificate within 9 months of hire date.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 50 lbs.;
- Exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, odors, vibration, confining work space, and chemicals; Constant exposure to animals.
- Ability to travel to different sites and locations.
