Job Description
The City of Renton's Public Works Facilities department is recruiting to fill a Custodial Maintenance Supervisor vacancy. Lead and inspire a dedicated team of custodians! The Custodial Maintenance Supervisor plans and coordinates activities and operations associated with the Facilities division. May perform physically labor-intensive tasks associated with their work group including general maintenance and repairs. Coach and mentor employees to develop their capabilities and recognize and reinforce developmental efforts and improvements. Contribute to the City's vision, mission, and goals in the performance of all job duties.
For the first six-months the schedule will be Monday - Friday 8am-4 : 30pm then will shift to 6pm-2 : 30am schedule indefinitely.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise the custodial functions for the City including park facilities, and City sites.Inspect facilities to determine general maintenance, cleaning, sanitization, and repair needs.With guidance from Facilities Manager, request bids and proposals for work to be performed, monitor custodial related maintenance projects done by contractors including the inspection of work in progress and upon completion to assure maintenance and repairs are completed in compliance with specifications, City standards, timelines, applicable codes, and regulations.Prioritize, schedule and coordinate work projects with other City staff and resident groups. Analyze general short- and long-range custodial related maintenance, and related building service's needs and preventative maintenance.Attend meetings related to assigned operations and activities.Complete or oversee the completion of various records and reports, including work accomplished and in progress, inventory control of equipment and materials, materials purchased and use, cost estimates, hazardous materials and safety records and priorities of work groups.Receive, investigate, and resolve complaints and comments from City personnel and the public; follow up on issues as needed.Provide technical guidance and training on hazardous materials, fall protections and chemical safety; participate on various city committees (Safety & Emergency Management); inspect work sites for safety issues and proper practices.Collaborate with the Facilities Coordinator to ensure custodial expectations are met at leased facilities.Interpret and explain applicable policies and regulations and remain current regarding applicable laws, codes, rules, and procedures pertaining to the safe and efficient operation of City facilities.Act as Facilities Manager in their absence as assigned.Communicate with City departments and coordinate custodial needs, procedures, schedules, and projects, including building openings, rentals, facility setup and cleaning; research and resolve questions, concerns, and related issues; coordinate custodial activities and projects with Administrators and other maintenance personnel.Respond to and resolve related theft, vandalism, fire, health, and safety issues; investigate facility damage / vandalism by reviewing recordings via city camera system.Evaluate employee performance; conduct consistent staff and 1 : 1 check in meetings with direct reports.Coordinate the hiring and onboarding of new employees.Delegate, review and ensure timely completion of duties of assigned staff.Assist in the development and communication of department goals that support the City's Mission and Business Plan.Train staff; set specific and measurable standards and goals.Evaluate the custodial maintenance function to improve service, productivity, and efficiency, and assist with resolution of work-related complaints and issues that cannot be addressed by staff.Comply with and administer City policies.Contribute to an environment of teamwork and respect.Foster a culture of equity and inclusion by welcoming and meeting the diverse needs and perspectives of groups and individuals.Make recommendations regarding discipline or termination.Remain current with relevant technological advancements as it relates to field.Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.Perform other duties as assigned.May be assigned to support City priorities during emergencies.For a complete job description, please click .
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS :
Minimum 7 years of custodial / building maintenance experience.1 year supervisory or lead experience or demonstrated leadership experience.Valid Driver's License.Successful passing of a required driving record check.Successful passing of a required background check and national fingerprint-based records check.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Drive to offsite locations to perform essential functions.Move throughout City facilities and buildings.Operate a computer and other office equipment.Communicate with City employees and residents.Lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.Lift heavy objects in awkward and confined spaces, using proper lifting and rigging techniques.Climb and work from lifts, ladders, scaffold, and climb stairs.Bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods.WORK ENVIRONMENT :
