Job Description
The City of Renton's is recruiting for an experienced Building Electrical Inspector to join our Community and Economic department. This position works on a team that performs inspections at various stages of construction on industrial, commercial, multifamily, and single-family buildings to ensure compliance with laws, codes, standards and regulations.
If hired, your focus will be on electrical inspections but will also be trained to complete building inspections on as needed basis.
Some of the duties performed by this position include, but are not limited to :
- Review and inspect construction and electrical plans and new electrical installations, components and wiring to ensure compliance with approved plans.
- Inspect sites for erosion control, grading and soil excavation or other land modifications.
- Write detailed correction notices for code violations discovered during inspections.
- Investigate, respond to, and resolve compliance complaints concerning alleged violations of City ordinances.
- Attend meetings and maintain current knowledge of code requirements and pertinent City ordinances.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance; work evening and / or weekend hours as required.
To be considered for this position, applicants must possess a valid general journey level electrician (EL01) certification from the State of Washington for a minimum of 4 years. ICC Building Inspector certification is also required within 12 months of hire. If you do not currently hold this certification the City of Renton will purchase the study materials and pay for one examination. Studying for this examination can be conducted during regular work hours.

This position requires driving and is also subject to a driving record check from the WA State Dept of Licensing (or other state equivalent).
