The City of Renton is recruiting for a skilled candidate to join our team as a full-time Print and Mail Supervisor. This position is responsible for overseeing the City’s centralized Print Shop and mailroom operations. The role encompasses various aspects of mail services, offset press production, copying services, and related reprographics equipment within the Print Shop. Additionally, the supervisor will play a key role in planning, organizing, and scheduling work and procedures, along with providing coaching and mentoring support to staff.
We are looking for a Print and Mail supervisor with at least 3 years of digital print experience involving networked printers and copiers, wide-format printers, bindery/finishing equipment experience as well as knowledge of mail services, postal guidelines and postal software experience, along with at least 1 year of supervisor experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, organize and supervise the print and mail functions for the City.
- Evaluate the print and mail functions to improve customer service, productivity and efficiency, and assist with resolution of work-related complaints and issues.
- Maintain and update U.S. Postal Regulations information for City employees and oversee the City’s mailroom and equipment and city mailing procedures, responsible for mailings.
- Provide technical and policy information to internal customers, and, in partnership with the Communications division, meet with staff to resolve problems and maintain positive relations.
- Use and maintain various computer software and collaborate with IT for software procurement, installation (if applicable), maintenance, etc.
- In conjunction with Finance, prepare the annual budget for the Print Shop including charging back materials and services to department budgets.
- Advise City departments on print, copy and mail services, administer operations insuring timely, accurate, and cost-efficient services.
- Serve as main production employee on digital printers, copiers and wide-format equipment; in collaboration with Print/Mail Assistant.
- Work with multiple vendors to maintain cost-effective solutions for the acquisition of paper, supplies, and outside printing and mail services.
- Research cost comparisons on materials and reports to management as required. Work with the Accounts Payable division and department administrative staff for processing and approval of invoices and maintain inventory billing control.
- Produce budgetary and production reports.
- Perform inventory, purchasing procedures, and file maintenance.
- Maintain and update MSDS hazardous materials binder and related reports on print shop supplies.
- Evaluate employee performance; conduct consistent staff and 1:1 check in meetings with direct reports.
- Coordinate the hiring and onboarding of new employees.
- Delegate, review and ensure timely completion of duties of assigned staff.
- Assist in the development and communication of department goals that support the City’s Mission and Business Plan.
- Train staff; set specific and measurable standards and goals.
- Comply with and administer City policies.
- Contribute to an environment of teamwork and respect.
- Foster a culture of equity and inclusion by welcoming and meeting the diverse needs and perspectives of groups and individuals.
- Make recommendations regarding discipline or termination.
- Remain current with relevant technological advancements as it relates to field.

- May be assigned to support City priorities during emergencies.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3 years of digital print experience involving networked printers and copiers, wide-format printers, and related bindery/finishing equipment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience involving knowledge of mail services, postal guidelines, and utilizing postal software.
- 1 year supervisory or lead experience or demonstrated leadership experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Successful passing of a required background check.
