What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletics Fields Worker position at City of Republic?
Primary Purpose
Assists in the ground’s maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep, of city parks, greenway areas, City-owned landscaped areas, and the grounds surrounding municipal facilities including park restrooms and athletic fields.
Supervision
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Parks Maintenance Superintendent and general daily supervision of the Sports Field Manager.
- Works as a member of a crew to perform the general beautification, cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of city parks, greenway areas, city owned landscaped areas, and the grounds surrounding municipal buildings inclusive of trimming, mowing, tree care, landscaping, trash removal, cleaning, sports fields preparation, sports field maintenance etc.
- Assists Parks and Recreation Department during times of special events.
- Operates weed eaters, sports field machinery and other equipment in a manner consistent with safety principles.
- Maintains, cleans, and repairs weed trimmers, sports field machinery and other equipment to keep them in good working order.
- Deals effectively and courteously with fellow employees and the public.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Miscellaneous Requirements

Physical Demands
Performs bending, squatting, crawling, twisting, kneeling, and reaching to ground level and overhead; Must be able to reach, grip and hold; Must be able to lift 50 pounds above their head; Must be able to push, pull and carry 60 pounds.
