ADULT VAN DRIVER (Part Time)
JOB SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, drive 14 or 22 passenger van/bus to pick up and deliver adult passengers. Provide other transportation services upon request of Senior Center, Recreation Center, and/or Program Managers. Perform other related work as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Drive to pick up adult passengers at designated locations and deliver to specified destinations. Operate handicap lift on bus/van effectively. Assist passengers in and out of bus/van. Provide other transportation services upon request of Senior Center, Recreation Center, and/or Program Managers. Operate two-way radio. Add; subtract; make change correctly. Supervise all passengers both visually and audibly to ensure health/safety standards are maintained. Communicate courteously and effectively with other City employees, officials, and the public. Practice good public relations for the City. Sit for long periods; stand; lift objects up to 40 pounds into the van/bus.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
May be required to carry and/or push objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
REQUIRED EDUCATIONS, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSES:
If assigned to 22-passenger van/bus: Valid Texas Commercial Drivers License, Class A, B or C, with “P” (passenger) endorsement, required. Must have passed the written part of the Commercial Drivers License; must pass the driving portion of the test within 15 days of hire date.
If assigned to 14-passenger van/bus: Valid Texas Driver’s license, Class C required.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
Must demonstrate ability to drive 22-passenger or 14-passenger van/bus safely. Must have ability to maintain effective public relations and effective interpersonal skills. Must have appropriate verbal and written language ability.
