Nature of Work
Under general direction of the Playground Coordinator, provides a wide range of recreation activities and fun outdoor opportunities for children ages 6 - 12. Develops, prepares and implements weekly theme-based activity plans which stimulate growth, development and self-fulfillment of the individual participants. Displays leadership amongst Playground Staff and can assume responsibility when the Coordinator is absent.
HOURS
27 weekday hours : Monday - Thursday. June 9 through August 1, 2025.
Orientation : June 9 - 12. No program on June 19 and June 30 - July 4, 2025.
This is a seasonal position and is therefore temporary in nature. Position ends at the end of the season.
Job Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ensures safety precautions are taken on the playground at all times.
Administers first aid for minor injuries sustained on the playground.
Cooperates and assists in the preparation and implementation of special events.
Prepares necessary forms and reports (accident, attendance, property damage).
Assumes direct responsibility of turning in all written forms and materials to Coordinator, as required.
Requisitions, receives, issues and oversees the use of equipment and materials.
Cares for and maintains equipment, materials and facilities.
Attends and participates in all orientation, planning and staff meetings.
Uses previous playground experiences in aiding fellow staff members.
Performs light maintenance duties as assigned, including but not limited to cleaning park buildings, restrooms and picking up litter around the buildings or grounds.
Able to give direction to other staff to ensure the Playgrounds program is running effectively.
Responsible for Playgrounds program's daily schedule in the absence of the Coordinator.
