Target Hiring Range: $35.15 to $42.18 Hourly (DOQ)
The City of Richland is seeking a diligent engineering technician who has expertise in supporting permitting processes through plan reviews. The ideal candidate will be skilled in navigating the intricacies of reviewing and interpreting complex or difficult drawings as they relate to municipal codes, regulations, and applicable Federal, State, and local laws. To be successful in this position, a person would thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy building long-term partnerships. The person in this position works in a team environment on-site full-time typically Monday through Friday day shift with the option of working a flex schedule with every other Friday off.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Performs intermediate technical work in the fields of roadway and utility design engineering, utility locating, or construction inspection, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Public Works Director.
This position works to support our Permitting area of operations. Permitting specific responsibilities includes checking engineering calculations and utilizing computer aided drafting programs to review drawings and calculations and to write technical reports or letters to summarize plan review comments, performs reviews of construction plans, reviews record drawings, reviews survey information, review designs for installation, review designs for road and/or utility projects, and review materials and estimates for construction projects.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree in engineering technology, CADD or related field and five (5) years experience in civil engineering, electrical engineering, engineering technology, construction inspection, or utility projects, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
DESIRABLE SKILLS:- Valid driver's license.
- Obtain Flagger Certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain for duration in position.

- Ability to review construction plans for compliance with City standards, municipal codes, and general engineering principles in roadway and utility design engineering and construction inspection support and/or related work.
- Ability to check engineering calculations and information to review drawings and plans.
- Ability to write technical reports or letters to summarize plan review comments.
- Ability to review materials and estimates for construction projects.
Selection will be based on overall qualifications, skills testing, and an interview process. Final candidate selected will be subject to a comprehensive background/reference check commensurate to the position.
