What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Aide II position at City of Richmond (CA)?
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Maintenance Aides may be assigned a variety of routine medium to heavy laboring tasks related to the custodial maintenance of parks, streets, and City facilities. This differs from Maintenance Worker I, Groundskeeper-Gardener, Equipment Utility Worker I, and Utility Worker I who are required to perform work requiring greater job skills and less supervision. Normal work assignments may include evenings and weekends. Incumbents may be assigned to various departments in the City. Appointees to positions within this class shall be limited to appointments not to exceed 1000 hours (125) days in a fiscal year.
- May perform grounds maintenance work such as picking up rubbish, raking leaves, moving and watering lawns, and pulling weeds.
- May assist maintenance and skilled trades personnel in forming building maintenance tasks.
- May perform routine unskilled, heavy manual laboring work in street maintenance such as cleaning gutters, drains, catch basins, and culverts; and repairing street surfaces by spreading, raking, or shoveling asphalt or other materials.
- May clean restrooms and perform other janitorial duties.
- May load, unload or transport equipment, materials and supplies.
- Work in clean-up crew (i.e. clean vacant lots, vacant and abandoned houses, weeds, debris, litter, and trash) throughout the City.
- Work in parks clean-up crew as well as general buildings/facilities clean-up crew.
- Will work under close supervision.
- Assist in paving work.
- Assist signs and lines crews.
- Assist skilled crafts personnel in areas such as broad-up work.
- Opening/closing up recreation/community centers.
- Perform office clerical work other than routine filing and answering telephones by taking messages.
- Will not operate any power tools.
- Set up tables and chairs.
- Perform any skilled job duties (e.g. paving, painting, electrical, etc.)
