Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Construction Inspector to join our Public Works team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and ensuring that construction roadway projects comply with applicable codes, regulations, and standards. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the development and maintenance of our city's infrastructure while maintaining safety and quality in all public construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect construction projects, including roads, utilities, buildings, and other infrastructure.
- Verify compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Review construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and identify any issues or non-compliance.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports of inspections, including photographs and documentation of deficiencies.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and property owners to resolve any construction-related issues.
- Monitor safety practices and ensure construction sites are safe for workers and the public.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, sewer lateral, land disturbance permits and activities.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for project improvements and corrective actions.
- Assist Public Works maintenance crews with various tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required and moderate experience in roadway and sewer lateral construction or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of and ability to use specialized equipment, like cameras.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with contractors, engineers, and property owners.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to operate personal computers and software, including Microsoft Windows, word and excel.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between job sites.
