General Definition of Work
Performs skilled specified tasks in swimming standards. Teach and instructs participants the fundamentals of swimming. Work is performed under general supervision of pool manager and the Assistant Parks Superintendent.

Essential Functions
Train, teach swimming standards at all levels.
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on operations, inventory, equipment, and safety.
Ensure safe pool operations, per safety regulations.
Conduct regular inspections of the facility and surrounding areas for safety hazards, damages, or liabilities.
Respond to emergency situations and accidents.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of water safety regulations and pool operations; familiarity with general equipment; strong teaching methods, with the ability to instruct with participants of all skill levels; ability to identify and address safety concerns or potential risks; ability to generate reports and maintain accurate records; and ability to work effectively with staff and the public, including handling difficult interactions with some.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements
This works requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts and observing general surroundings and activities; Duties include monitoring surroundings. The work environment includes regular exposure to outdoor weather, frequent extreme heat (non-weather), and occasional risks such as moving parts, heights, airborne particles, electrical shock, and bloodborne pathogens. Personal protective equipment may be required. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
Valid driver’s license in the State of Indiana.
Water Safety Instructor Certification required.
