Description

The City of Richmond Police Department is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented BWC Video Redactor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in reviewing body worn camera footage and making necessary redactions to ensure compliance with legal requirements prior to dissemination in response to FOIA requests, subpoenas duces tecum, or other requests.

Successful completion of an interview, and thorough background investigation, which may include a polygraph exam and drug/alcohol screening, is required. Please note that the Police Department background process may take up to 45-60 days. An applicant disqualified from the Police background process may reapply a year after disqualification.

Duties include but are not limited to

Responsibilities:

  • Review all body worn camera footage to identify and make necessary redactions in accordance with legal requirements and departmental policies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of redactions to meet deadlines for FOIA requests, subpoenas, or other requests for footage.
  • Maintain meticulous records of redactions made and actions taken for each piece of footage.
  • Collaborate with departmental legal counsel and other stakeholders as needed to ensure compliance with legal and privacy requirements.
  • Utilize Evidence.com and Microsoft Excel proficiently to manage and track redaction processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information contained within body worn camera footage.

Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business/public administration or field related to assignment
  • Two years of paraprofessional experience in area related to assignment, such as assisting with program or project administration and management analysis
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience in video editing, redaction, or similar role preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain focus during repetitive tasks.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in the use of Evidence.com and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment: Due to the nature of work assignments, incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraint. The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly talk, hear, and see; frequently reach and perform repetitive motions; and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, and feel. The working conditions may not include environmental hazards. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be sedentary, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
