Description
The City of Richmond Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates to fill multiple Refuse Truck Operato rs positions within the Solid Waste Division. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining City waste collection trucks and equipment as well as operating complex and heavy motor equipment, machinery, and vehicles in the collection of refuse and yard waste. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a lead worker by overseeing and training an assigned crew of Refuse Collectors.
Duties include but are not limited to
Establishing safe work zones by erecting barricades and signs, and directing traffic as needed. Assisting citizens as needed and responding to their questions and concerns.
This individual may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays or on-call, as needed.

In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
