General Definition of Work
Performs complex professional work overseeing the total golf operation and services offered including the golf pro shot, golf course, golf services areas, golf car operation, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work involves program development and service delivery under the general direction of the Parks Superintendent. The position will promote an exceptional “golf experience,” and provide excellent services and programs for all patrons of Highland Lake Golf Course and Glen Miller Golf Course. Responsible for overseeing office functions and supervision of all golf department staff.

Essential Functions
Manage daily operations of the Golf Course, Clubhouse, and associated programs, including tournaments, player services, and merchandising.
Develop, implement, and monitor budgets and business plans to align with departmental goals. Prepare work schedules, assign responsibilities, and monitor employee productivity. Assist in the tracking and control of expenses relative to revenue.
Perform payroll tasks, monitor hours, and adjust schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime. Oversee inventory management, including purchasing and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff; performs disciplinary action when necessary and provides corrective instruction as warranted.
Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and career development. Provide leadership and vision to build a high-performing team; Oversees player development programs and assists players.
Plans, promotes, coordinates, and schedules individual and group golf lessons, clinics, golf tournaments, recreational golf outings, and public/league play; assists with the development and implementation of departmental marketing campaigns.
Ensure a member and guest service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf. Develop and communicate local golf course rules, regulations, and etiquette.
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the golf course, clubhouse, and related facilities, grounds, and equipment.
Inspect course conditions, including greens, fairways, and tee boxes, to ensure high standards. Schedule and oversee improvement projects and chemical-based grounds care programs. Attends and participates in Park Board and Department meetings; reviews policies and procedures; updates goals and objectives; responds and reports fiscal management, personnel, and staffing issues; prepares divisional status reports and recommends improvements to the Superintendent. Establishes and maintains an effective system to provide services to the general public; develops, interprets, and communicates local golf course rules, regulations, and course etiquette to players as appropriate.
Develop and implement marketing campaigns to promote programs and services. Respond to emergency situations and address complaints or concerns from members and the public. Maintain a close working relationship with the Parks Superintendent and other departmental leaders. Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of golf, including rules, facility, and tournament operations; recreational programming and office administration; goal setting, program development, evaluation, and employee management; budgeting practices, including preparation, administration, and monitoring. Ability to supervise crews, assign work, provide training, evaluate performance, inspect jobs, and recommend corrective action or discipline. Thorough knowledge of special events and recreational activities related to golf; social behavior across age groups; organizing, conducting, promoting, and supervising athletics and recreation; health, safety, and first aid practices; department administration; federal, state, and local regulations; required records and reports; and correct English usage. Skill in using computers, software, and equipment; customer service and professional phone communication. Ability to interpret and apply policies and laws, communicate effectively, maintain records, and interact courteously with the public. Ability to establish and maintain contact with business owners, department heads, the Mayor, the Park Superintendent, and the public for information exchange.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred in business administration or Golf Course Management. Associates/ Technical degree in professional golf course management, or related field and considerable experience overseeing the administrative, financial, and maintenance operations of a golf course and teaching golf education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
Professional Golfers Association of America Class A-1 certification;
State Of Indiana Servers License;
Pesticide Applicators License Cat 3B Spray License required; and
CPR /First Aid Certified.
