The City of Richmond Department of Social Services is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Family Services Specialist III.  The successful candidate in this position will be responsible for managing Family Partnership Meetings (FPM) processes in which the primary focus will be facilitating meetings and conducting interviews with individuals and family units to assess specific needs.

Duties include, are but not limited to:
  • Facilitating collaborative decision-making through outcome-focused meetings to include youth, family, caregivers, community representatives, service providers, and agency staff
  • Fostering meeting participants through exploratory discussion of needs and concerns
  • Identifying strengths, best possible placement related decisions, and assisting families in locating community resources
  • Leading FPM meetings parallel to the mission, values, policies and best practice standards of the agency relative to the Virginia Children Services Practice Model, to protect children and preserve the family
  • Accurately recording FPM meeting details, providing a written summary at the conclusion of every session, and providing timely documentation of meetings
  • Utilizing social services databases to review, provide and document information
  • Actively engaging in systematic evaluation of FPM processes
  • Providing training and guidance to other facilitators and staff in the FPM process, as appropriate
  • Providing regular feedback and advocating for system improvement developments that support best practices and policy development
**City of Richmond Department of Social Services employees working in this position are considered essential personnel and may be required to work beyond scheduled hours, during inclement weather, and during declared emergencies.**
QUALIFICATIONS, SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge in Social Services programs; principles and practices in the human services field, including knowledge of programs, social-economic trends, and behaviors that impact the delivery of human services; agency administration policy and administering individual and family assessments and interpreting results.

Demonstrated skills in case management; consulting and advising; interpersonal communication; oral/written communication; effective listening; and formulating, interpreting, or implementing policies or operating procedures.

Demonstrated ability to think critically; make sound judgement; work with diverse population; perform job responsibilities effectively with minimal supervision; prioritize and manage time effectively.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field OR minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area (Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia).
  • Two or more years of experience in assigned program area and completion of required training programs or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  •  Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Social Work or Human Services
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Social Work license
  • Three or more years of CPS related experience in the areas of Adoption, Foster Care, Family Preservation, and Court-related proceedings
  • Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in Spanish

Salary : $61,526 - $96,450
