Chief Water Operator/ Distribution Supervisor

The City of Richwood Water Treatment Plant is a recently upgraded and refurbished, Class II plant. It is capable of producing 1.5 MGD. 2025 will see many more projects, including a new raw water intake structure, all new drive-by meters, and tank telemetry.

Must possess a valid WV Driver’s License, Class II (or higher)WVOP Certification, and Chief Operator class certification. Must be proficient in Word and Excel.

Must pass a drug test and background check.

Includes, but not limited to: Plant operation and maintenance, required testing, annual monitoring schedule, maintain multiple reports for many different government agencies, management of water distribution crew and distribution supplies with the primary focus on water loss, and mentoring OITs.

Primarily Monday through Friday, dayshift, but could include nights, weekends, and holidays. The work environment for this position is inside/outside. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Conditions will include dust, dirt, noise, heat, and cold. The ability to operate heavy equipment and possess a CDL would be a plus.

This is a municipal water plant and the Chief reports to the Mayor and the Water Board.

This position will work closely with WVPSC, WVDHHR, BPH, Beckley Regional OEHS, DEP, EPA, Region IV, US Forestry, and all other utilities.
