Wage Scale for Apprentice position is as follows: 3rd period Start 60% $28.466 months 65% $30.8412 months 70% $33.2118 months 75% $35.5824 months 80% $37.9530 months 90% $42.70An Apprentice Journeyman Line Worker is receiving training through a certified electric line worker program and under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Line Worker or Supervisor. This position is responsible for the construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical transmission and distribution lines, under the direction of a lead worker.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform overhead electrical distribution system construction and maintenance work, including but not limited to operation, maintenance, and dismantling of equipment, poles, towers, and other supporting structures; cross arms, braces, pins, insulators, secondary racks, brackets, guys, wires, and other conductors; transformers, meters, switches, fuses, cutouts, lighting arrestors, potheads, instrument transformers, voltage regulators, and other related electric equipment. Install polyphase transformers.Perform underground electrical distribution system construction and maintenance work. This includes underground conduit, cable pulling, pad mounted transformers, secondary pedestals, cable terminations, switches, and other devices. Assist the lead worker in cable work.Perform substation construction, including structures and equipment.Respond to trouble and emergency calls and perform necessary maintenance.Diagnose electrical faults.Complete required labor and equipment records.Perform construction or maintenance work on both energized and de-energized overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, and overhead transmission systems.Operate all vehicles and related equipment used in both overhead and underground construction and maintenance activities.Trim trees to ensure the operating integrity of the RFMU overhead electrical system as required.

CPR and First Aid CertifiedAdditional education or experience in relevant field.WORKING CONDITIONSWork is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments depending on projects/tasks. On a frequent basis exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; confined spaces with energized high voltage cables; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock, flash, or explosion; and vibration.Is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment may be very loud.While performing the duties of this job, the employee must switch high voltage and assist with pole and vault rescue. Required to walk on uneven surfaces.Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
