Job Summary:
This position supervises, coordinates, and schedules all athletic programs, instructor classes, and special athletic events. This position, under supervision of the Athletics Director is responsible for managing the activities of the entire athletics operations.
Major Duties:
- Plans, evaluates, and coordinates athletic activities: including scheduling facilities and ensuring facilities are set up.
- Provides directions and supervises part-time staff, volunteer staff, scheduling, and determining workloads.
- Assists in the development, recommendation and implementation of goals, objectives, and direction of the department.
- Creates and implements policies, procedures, and work standards for the assigned recreation area(s).
- Monitors the day-to-day operations of athletic activities, including making site visits, handling and resolving complaints and ensuring that programs and events have required materials and supplies.
- Formulates and organizes program plans and schedules for seasonal athletic activities.
- Supervises the issuance, use, care, and maintenance of recreation supplies and equipment.
- Maintains and ensures that all volunteer coaches are properly certified to adhere to city/league guidelines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution with major course work in municipal recreation or sports management. • 3 years Professional experience in municipal recreation, business, or sports administration or a related field. • 3 years of administrative or supervisory experience. • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Miscellaneous Information
Supervisory Controls: Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Athletic department staff with overall supervision by the Athletic Director. Physical Demands: Lifting, standing for long periods of time, walking, bending repetition. This position uses tools or equipment requiring dexterity. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Occasional work may be performed with the employee sedentary/manual/indoor & outdoor depending on the event. Work Environment: The work is typically performed at the Athletic Administration Building, Town Center/Regional Park and other locations, as needed.
