SUMMARY: Performs complex and technical work in the Public Works Department in construction project inspections, review of plans and specifications for public works construction projects, and communication between various contractors, the general public, and project stakeholders.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Construction Management: Oversee major construction projects, right-of-way improvements, and other assigned projects ensuring appropriate documentation, quality assurance/quality control management, and an ability to act as a liaison between contractors and the city. Conducts simple engineering surveys utilizing Trimble GPS equipment. Responds to emergency calls and stand on-call when necessary.Capital Projects: Assist in the development of public works capital construction projects. Work with the City Engineer and/or consultant to prepare plans and specifications for the construction of the project. Supervise the project beginning with the bidding phase through final payment. Complete the necessary paperwork for the project using Microsoft Word and Excel. Meets and confers with city officials, contractors, and the public on all aspects of the project. Performs inspections on public works capital construction projects.Interdepartmental Coordination: Assists the Community Development Department on inspections dealing with utilities and public rights-of-way.Public Relations/Customer Service: Represents the City of Riverton by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.Assumes other duties as assigned.
