The City of Roanoke is seeking a Recreation Leader to be responsible for planning, implementing, leading and facilitating; aquatics, fitness, wellness, trips and tours, arts and culture programming.
The successful candidate would be responsible for performing specialized work as it pertains to fitness and movement, lifelong wellness, arts, leisure and aquatic operations, supervision of aquatic staff and administrative paperwork.
Work will be performed under the general supervision of a full-time Recreation Supervisor and/or Coordinator.
Minimum of two (2) years public pool experience and valid certificate in ARC Lifeguard training; standard First Aid, CPR for Professional Rescuer preferred.
Work schedule is 40 hours. Work will be daytime, some evenings and weekends.
Responsible for planning, implementing, leading and facilitating aquatics, fitness and wellness programming. The ability to follow and supervise performance of rescue techniques and emergency care procedures and ability to perform all pool maintenance procedures correctly required.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) years of college with emphasis on recreation program planning and implementation, a minimum of 2 years pool operations experience, AFO/CPO preferred as well as possession of a valid driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Certifications required upon request-ARC Standard First Aid and CPR.
