The City of Roanoke is seeking Paramedics for part-time position with the Roanoke Fire & EMS. This performs technical work providing human health emergency medical services, duties are performed under emergency conditions and frequently involve considerable personal hazard. Assists in maintaining equipment inventory on emergency vehicles. Maintains vehicles in a clean and working order. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associate degree with courses in emergency health sciences or related field; related experience and/or training in emergency medical service; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license and EVOC issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. MUST BE 18 YEARS OLD and submit to a drug screening test. Must possess and maintain EMT-P, AHA, ACLS, PHTLS, PALS and any other required certifications appropriate to duty assignment within the Fire/EMS department. Must be able to work 8 am to 8 pm, average 3-4 days a month. Bilingual, Spanish/English speakers encouraged to apply. This is a part time position with no city benefits.

Maintains vehicles in a clean and working order
Performs daily routine station and grounds cleaning and assigned maintenance as directed
Responds to fire alarms and emergency medical calls and performs related emergency work as required
Provides patient care and administers advanced life support techniques and treatment
Prepares a variety of reports and complete records as required
Assists in activities not directly related to emergencies (i.e.public standby situations)
Must be able to work 8 am to 8 pm,average 3-4 days a month.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May supervise staff at an emergency scene.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license and EVOC issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must possess and maintain EMT-P, AHA, ACLS, PHTLS, PALS and any other required certifications appropriate to duty assignment within the Fire/EMS department.
