The City of Roanoke is looking for hardworking and dependable individuals to join our Seasonal Park Mowing Crew. In this hands-on role, you'll help maintain the city's parks and greenways, ensuring they remain clean, safe, and welcoming for the community.
What You'll Do
- Perform a variety of landscape and maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, weeding, and general upkeep of park spaces.
- Clean and maintain shelters, restrooms, benches, tables, and recreational courts (tennis and basketball).
- Handle trash removal and assist with basic repairs, including rough carpentry, concrete work, and light equipment maintenance.
- Load, unload, and transport materials such as soil, mulch, gravel, and lumber.
- Assist with special event setups, including staging, tents, and equipment preparation.
- Operate and maintain hand tools and small power tools, such as blowers, weed eaters, saws, and drills.
- Use light motorized equipment, including small dump trucks, pickup trucks with trailers, riding mowers, and push mowers.
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in automotive equipment operation, heavy manual labor, or related outdoor maintenance is ideal.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Licensing:
- A valid driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
