Performs clerical work.  Assesses personal property.  Audits DMV records.  Processes bills and mail.  Handles inquiries regarding personal property (i.e. telephone, walk-ins, etc).  Files records.  Assists taxpayers in completing forms and furnishes information.  Makes data entries on computer terminal.  Posts information to records as needed.  Appears in court as needed.  
Assists with departmental projects as assigned.  Rotates at DMV satellite location.  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years related experience and/or training in general office work and dealing with the general public; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a non-exempt position.SUMMARY
Performs clerical work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assesses personal property 

Audits DMV records 

Processes bills and mail 

Handles inquires regarding personal property (i.e. telephone, walk-ins, etc)
 
Files records

Assists taxpayers in completing forms and furnishes information

Makes data entries on computer terminal

Posts information to records as needed

Appears in court as needed

Assists with departmental projects as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years related experience and/or training in general office work and dealing with the general public; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS 
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to prepare reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
