General Description
This position supports Museum operations by supporting the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm Archivist by cataloguing, organizing, scanning, preserving, and documenting various historical items and documents, making the information accessible to the public while providing exemplary customer service. This is an internship position (approximately 14 hours per week until graduation).
Note : Second year hourly wage is $17.00.
Essential Functions
- Completes school internship requirements and progress reports as needed.
- Assists in the care, conservation, registration, cataloguing, digitization, and organization of the Rochester Hills Museum archives and collectons.
- Monitors and documents the condition of artifacts and storage spaces. Reports issues to Museum Archivist.
- Processes artifact donations, completing paperwork, cataloguing, and properly storing artifacts.
- Assists with digitizing collections including operating scanning equipment and maintaining digital files and metadata.
- Assists with creating online resources to share the Museum's collections with the public.
- Assists with developing presentations, exhibits, programs and activities for the Museum.
- Provides customer service to internal and external customers as needed.
- Assists visitors, conducts tours, and presents programs as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
