Description
Oversees all Preschool staff including hiring, scheduling, training, payroll, communications, and reviews. Works with Human Recourses and uses internal hiring software to accomplish these tasks. Oversees all Preschool day-to-day programing including the 36-week school year and seasonal camps. Reports directly to the Community Recreation and Facilities Manager.
Examples of Duties
Oversees daily curriculum of 36-week preschool program.
Oversees registration and financial plans for all preschool programs. This includes training in internal registration software.
Oversees parent/family communications for registration, tuition, program information, and disciplinary issues.
Must be able to communicate with staff, participants, and families via phone, email, and communication apps.
Writes and implements program policies including calendar dates, financial agreements, staff policies, emergency procedures, sick policies, and all other program policies related to preschool.
Maintain and order all program inventory and supplies.
Organizes and orders new equipment as needed.
Works with the Community Recreation Manager to review annual program budget.
Oversees DCFS annual renewal process.
To provide a positive interaction with each child, and evaluate each child and adjust programming to meet the needs of participants.
To display a positive, cooperative attitude when working with each child, parent, and staff member.
Must be able to use Microsoft Office.
Other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
The Child Care Director of a facility serving the same number of groups of pre-school and school-age children or more groups of pre-school children than groups of school-age children shall have achieved:
1) Sixty semester hours or 90 quarter hours of credit from an accredited college or university with 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6
2) Two years (3120 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center, 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of college credits with 10 semester or 15 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, and proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university until 2 years of college credit have been achieved. A total of 18 semester or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development is required to be obtained within the total 2 years of college credits; or
3) Completion of a credentialing program approved in accordance with Appendix G of this Part, completion of 12 semester or 18 quarter hours in courses related to child care and/or child development from birth to age 6 at an accredited college or university, and 2 years (3120 clock hours) child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten or licensed daycare center. The child care director shall be at least 21 years of age.) The child care director shall have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate(GED).CPR/First Aid certified (or able to obtain)Food Handler Manager Certified (or able to obtain).
Must be willing to work various hours. Possession of a valid Class “D” Illinois driver’s license or an equivalent license from the employee’s state of residence.
Supplemental Information
Selected candidates must meet a residency requirement, which includes living in the state of Illinois or Iowa and must report within 60 minutes after being called into work for an overtime assignment.
