What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Program Social Worker position at City of Rock Island?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate social worker to join our youth services team. The Youth Program Social Worker will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to participants, fostering positive social and emotional development, and addressing the diverse needs of our participants.1. Individual Counseling: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with participants to address personal and emotional challenges, offering guidance and support.
2. Group Counseling: Facilitate group counseling sessions to promote healthy communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills among program participants.
3. Assessment and Intervention: Assess the social and emotional needs of participants and develop intervention plans to address challenges and promote well-being.
4. Collaboration: Work closely with staff, school teachers, administrators, and other organizations to identify and address social and emotional concerns affecting participants.
5. Parental Involvement: Engage parents and guardians in the support process, providing resources and information to enhance their understanding of their child's social and emotional needs.
6. Advocacy: Advocate for the well-being of participants by collaborating with external agencies, community resources, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
7. Crisis Intervention: Respond to and manage crises effectively, providing immediate support to participants in times of emotional distress.
8. Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions in compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
9. Educational Workshops: Organize and conduct workshops for participants, parents, and staff on topics related to social and emotional well-being.
10. Collaborative Programming: Work collaboratively with program coordinators and other staff to integrate social work principles into the overall structure and goals of the afterschool program.
11. Performs related duties as assigned. Master's degree in Social Work or related field.
State licensure or certification as a social worker.
Proven experience in providing counseling and support services to children and adolescents.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in social work.Selected candidates must meet a residency requirement, which includes living in the state of Illinois or Iowa and must report within 60 minutes after being called into work for an overtime assignment.
