What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Technician position at City of Rockland, ME?
What You’ll Do:
Operate vacuum/jet trucks to maintain the collection system
Use GPS & GIS technology for data collection and mapping
Inspect sewer systems with remote camera equipment
Perform routine equipment maintenance and report issues
Maintain traffic control when working in public spaces
What We’re Looking For:
Ability to operate medium & heavy-duty equipment
Experience with sewer inspection equipment & vacuum trucks
Computer proficiency preferred (GIS & GPS knowledge a plus!)
Confined space entry experience preferred (will train)
Strong ability to analyze data & write reports
Education & Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid CDL license with tanker endorsement (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Experience or willingness to learn GPS equipment & GIS data entry
Knowledge of heavy equipment operations & safety procedures
