We are seeking a Crew Supervisor who will be responsible for performing supervisory work in the areas of Street Maintenance. This position serves as the on-call emergency duty supervisor over the City's emergency response and repair to street, water, sewer, storm drain, snow and ice removal, and storm debris incidents, including after hour response and varying shifts. This position communicates information to the Operation Maintenance Assistant Superintendents, residents, and contractors. This position oversees the areas of Street Maintenance and Snow and Ice Removal when other Crew Supervisor-Public Works II's are unavailable. The work contributes directly to the quality of life in the City with serious consequences on the health and well-being of its citizens and is performed under the general managerial direction of the Operations Maintenance Assistant Superintendents. High school degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in public works operations and maintenance, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Any combination of training and experience in construction and maintenance of municipal infrastructure to include Street Maintenance, Water Maintenance, Sewer Maintenance, and Storm Drain Maintenance.
Special Qualifications:
Most possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with required endorsements. Most possess Certification in Water Distribution I and Wastewater Collection II, as issued by the State of Maryland.
- Ensures safety practices and safe work environment through appropriate training on use of vehicles and equipment, handling materials, and work zone safety.
- Supervises crews during routine and after hour emergency responses including street, water, sewer, storm drain, and inclement weather events.
- Has direct contact with residents, shares relevant information and resolves problems, and communicates outcomes with managers.
- Performs administrative duties and paperwork, including maintaining records of work orders, cost sheets, timekeeping, asset management, and incident reports on property damage and employee injury.
- Supervises proper care and maintenance of all tools and equipment.
- Supervises excavations in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Supervises utility locates in accordance with federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, and requirements.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
- Supervises the maintenance, installation, fabrication, and repairs of street signs and pavement markings, while adhering to federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, and requirements.
- Supervises the maintenance and repair of the City's roadways.
- Supervises the maintenance and repair of the curbs, gutters, and sidewalks along City maintained roadways.
- Supervises seasonal programs and the preparation of tools and equipment for seasonal programs, including leaf collection and snow and ice removal.

- Knowledge of the operational capacities and maintenance requirements of mechanical construction equipment typically used in maintenance and repair activities.
- Knowledge of OSHA worksite requirements, temporary traffic control, and flagger operations.
- General knowledge of asset management concepts and software.
- Ability to read and comprehend construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to supervise a union labor work force.
- Ability to supervise (train, discipline, evaluate) work force.
- Ability to assist in the tracking of performance measures to meet program goals.
- Ability to assist in the writing of standard operating procedures.
