The starting salary for Swim Instructors is $18.20 hourly
Responsible for teaching "Learn to Swim" lessons and/or exercise classes; responsible for maintaining a safe environment to teach in; provides routine customer service, helps with planning and implementing programs; assists with class area set-up and clean-up and facility maintenance. Â Is able to independently teach assigned classes and works under the general supervision of the Lesson Supervisor and/or Recreation Program Supervisor; responsible for required paperwork. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings and weekends. Performs other duties as assigned.
Senior Swim Instructor
The starting salary for Senior Swim Instructors is $19.50 hourly.
Responsible for teaching "Learn to Swim" lessons and/or exercise classes; responsible for maintaining a safe environment to teach in; provides routine customer service, helps with planning and implementing programs; assists with class area set-up and clean-up and facility maintenance. Â May function as mentor to less experienced staff and is able to teach a wider variety of courses than lesser classified staff.

Is able to independently teach assigned classes and works under the general supervision of the Lesson Supervisor and/or Recreation Program Supervisor; responsible for required paperwork. Â Work hours may include early mornings, evenings and weekends. Â Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:
Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid (American Red Cross preferred). Â Swimming skills are necessary and must be effectively demonstrated prior to employment. Must be able to communicate with students in a pool environment.

General knowledge of swimming. Â Some prior teaching experience and working with youth preferred.

Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid (American Red Cross preferred). Â Certification as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (or equivalent certification from another agency) and certification in Lifeguard Training is preferred. Â Swimming skills are necessary. Â Must be able to effectively demonstrate swimming skills and communicate with students in a pool environment.

General knowledge of swimming. Â At least one year of prior experience teaching learn to swim or water fitness courses, or equivalent instructional experience.
