ASSISTANT POOL MANAGER--PART TIME

• Attends to the daily operation of aquatic facilities including opening and closing duties and supervises Lifeguards when necessary.
• Responsible for administration, staff supervision, facility operation, and for personal employee duties.
• Provides excellent customer service by responding to customers' questions and needs.
• Regulates and monitors water chemistry in the pool; maintains chemical inventory; and maintains equipment and supplies.
• Ensures the safety of the facility users by following state and local safety regulations.  Incumbent must enforce safety guidelines that are consistent with departmental policies.  Keeps supervisor informed regarding safety related issues.
• Completes various reports and submits them to the appropriate Supervisor.
• Assists with oversight and management of the Learn To Swim Program, Pool Rentals and Open Swim.
• Cleans/clears debris and refuse from City property regularly.
• Cleans restrooms on City property regularly.
• Must work special events as assigned.
• May drive city vehicles or operate motorized equipment.
• Required to report for work punctually, work all scheduled hours, and any required overtime as deemed necessary.  Must maintain a physical condition and standards necessary for the proper performance of duties, with or without accommodation.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience working in an aquatic setting is required.
• Candidate must possess current lifeguard training and CPR/FPR certifications from American Red Cross.
• Position includes morning, evening, weekend and holiday hours.
• ARC, WSI preferred.
• Have a current valid Texas driver's license. Must have a good driving record.

Knowledge skills and abilities

• Working knowledge of aquatic activities, life guarding, CPR and first aid.
• Knowledge of water rescue methods.
• Knowledge of swimming pool operations to include: sanitation, maintenance and safety.
• Must have the ability to courteously and firmly interact with pool patrons.
• Ability to consistently demonstrate endurance and rescue skills.
• Ability and skill in carrying out water rescues.
• Ability to consistently demonstrate speed and accuracy.
• Ability to use a calculator and do basic math functions.
• Ability to drive a vehicle and/or operate motorized equipment.
• Ability to lead other employees as needed.
• Requires effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment, ability to deal effectively with the public and possess an outstanding customer service attitude.
   

Physical Requirements:

• Tasks are essentially sedentary, with occasional walking, bending, light lifting, or other restricted physical activities.
• Tasks involve some physical effort, i.e., some standing and walking, or frequent light lifting (10-15 lbs.); or minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of shop or office equipment; may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
• Tasks may involve frequent walking, standing; some lifting and carrying of moderate weight (100± lbs.); and/or the operation of vehicles, office, shop, or hand tools in which manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination are important ingredients of safe and/or productive operations.
   

Environmental Requirements:
