DEFINITION: Responsible for operating medium equipment in the construction, maintenance, and repair of City streets and stormwater systemREPORTS TO: Crew Supervisor or Crew Leader assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Operates a tractor with broom mower to mow grass along city roadsides.Operates light motorized equipment safely, efficiently & in accordance with policies. Work at times can be under traffic stress.Operates a chainsaw and chipper to clear limbs and debris from city rights-of-ways.Perform other duties and tasks as required by the division workload such as leaf collection grass mowing, debris collection.Maintain landscape features and vegetation along municipal trails, walkways, boulevards, municipal rights-of-ways, and parks.Performs a variety of horticulture tasks for the planting, cultivating, fertilizing, pruning and watering of trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf.Inspects, remedies and maintains the overall health of trees.Follow field instructions & verbal directions, maintain records, schedules & logs to document material usage, work performed, equipment checks & problems.Establish & maintain good working relationships with all co-workers & the public.Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and extend the life of the equipment.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and equipment used in the performance of related maintenance and construction activities.Knowledge of farm tractors, dump trucks, bush hogs, flail mowers, weed eaters & chainsaws equipment operation and maintenance procedures.Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance procedures.Knowledge of safety standards.Skill in establishing cooperative and productive working relationships.Skill in analyzing problems and identifying solutions.Skill in oral and written communication.SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIESNonePHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work is light work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
