The City of Rohnert Park's Animal Shelter Department is currently looking for a Part Time Camp Director to assist at the 2025 Kidz 'n Critter Summer Camps. This position supervises school-age campers to assure safety; assists with preparing the camp schedule, arts and crafts activities and handout materials; and role models respect and a humane attitude.
This position will be required to work Monday - Friday 8:00 am -1:00 pm, June 2nd through August 8th . Before and after camps for prep work and closing-up camps as required.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Will have training and/or experience working with children from elementary to high school, dealing with the public in a polite and professional manner, as well as experience with a wide variety of animals including: dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, reptiles, birds, and livestock. Part-Time Community Service Leaders at the Critter Camp may perform general office duties including telephone calls, computer work, including data entry, processing mail, and filing.

The Part-Time Community Services Coordinator -Camp Director for the Kids' n Critters Camp program is responsible for organizing and coordinating a variety of Community Services' programs, activities, and special events. The incumbent may provide program oversight at multiple locations or a single facility including selecting, scheduling, training, and supervising staff and volunteers to lead program activities. This class is distinguished from the Community Services Supervisor which has broader program and facilities' supervision responsibilities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED
General supervision is provided by the Animal Shelter Supervisor. Incumbents' responsibilities include the coordination of part-time and volunteer staff involved in leading Community Services' activities and special events.These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.

- Oversees the delivery of a variety of the shelter camp programs and activities for various groups
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates staff, providing program leadership
- Coordinates facility availability and access for programs
- Designs flyers, posters, information packets, activity guides, press releases, and other public information materials
- Prepares a variety of correspondence and reports
- Makes recommendations regarding program and activity requirements and modifications
- Makes recommendations regarding program policies and procedures
- Responds to inquiries and complaints from the public regarding program activities
- Coordinates social functions and excursions
- Recruits volunteers and contacts business regarding resources for special events
- Works with schools, businesses, and other community organizations in community partnership to deliver programs
- Oversees the performance of contractors providing services
- Ensures program availability under the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act
- Reviews and submits expense reports and assists in providing information regarding budget requests
- Orders program supplies and requests facilities' maintenance and repairs
- Reviews time cards for accuracy
- Maintains records and conducts research regarding information in program areas
- Collects and balances activity registration fees and follows up when fees are not received
- Performs a variety of office activities related to program functions
- May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker in the event of a disaster or emergency
- Performs related duties as assigned
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:(positions in this class typically require)
- Two years of responsible work experience in recreational and cultural program activities
- Some related college-level course work is desirable
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: - Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License and a good driving record.
- Current and valid Basic CPR Certificate and First Aid Certificates.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: - Pursuant to the California Public Response Code 5164, all applicants for positions involving supervisory or disciplinary authority over a minor must complete and submit a CPR Code 5164.
- Per California State Law, smoking is not permitted inside City facilities/vehicles or within 20 feet of main entrances, exits, and operable windows.
