What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Recreation Leader position at City of Rolling Hills Estates?
Under the supervision of the Community Services Supervisor and daily direction of the Community Services Coordinator this part-time position is responsible for taking tennis court reservations, class registrations, memberships, opening and/or closing City parks and facilities, assisting with the coordination and implementation of City-wide activities and special events, and other duties as assigned.
Must clear LiveScan fingerprint (background) check.
Must pass Pre-placement physical exam.
Must clear E-Verify process. Physical Requirements:
Moderate; Requires the ability to perform on-site field inspections including exertion of a moderate amount of physical effort to stoop, crouch, climb and lift in performance of assigned duties; Requires the ability to walk long distances, including uneven terrain; Performs work involving lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects which may weigh up to 25 pounds; May have with prolonged periods of sitting within office environment; May require some driving to different locations; Intermittently twist to reach office equipment; Bend, squat and kneel when filing; walk and stand when operating office equipment; Write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; Hear and talk with the public; File papers and reports; May be required to work evenings and/or weekends; Ability to be present at work during normal business hours; Ability to hear and speak to communicate in person or over the telephone.

- Display courteous and professional behavior and customer service toward all patrons, contract instructors, other employees and supervisors;
- Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries from the public and employees;
- Answer inquiries about programming via phone or in-person contact;
- Effectively communicate verbally to coordinator, supervisor, staff and participants;
- Handle daily cash, credit card and check transactions;
- Handle daily cash drawer reconciliation at the end of each shift;
- Assist with the general facility operations;
- Monitor and maintain a clean and safe work environment, department equipment and supplies;
- Take court and class reservations and collect fees;
- Open and close park and other facilities as assigned;
- Observe all City rules and regulations;
- Enforce facility code of conduct and policies and procedures;
- May serve as a Proctor at City Hall;
- Assist with all special event preparations and work the day of the event if assigned;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Preferred Recreation Programs experience
- Preferred Customer Service experience
- Must be at least 16 years old (High School students must have valid work permit)
- Valid California Driver's License with a safe driving records, preferred;
- CPR/First-Aid Certification preferred.
- Facility rules and regulations;
- Cash register operation and cash handling;
- General recreation programs;
- General office equipment.
- Communicate effectively;
- Establish and maintain a positive and effective working relationship with staff, city officials, civic groups, members of the community;
- Follow oral and written instructions;
- Perform simple mathematical calculations and elementary bookkeeping;

- Maintain attendance and punctuality;
- Ensure compliance with rules and regulations of facility use.
