ABOUT THE POSITION
THIS RECRUITMENT IS TO FILL SEVERAL PART-TIME VACANCIES IN THE

WORK SCHEDULE : The position works a variable work schedule with an average of 18 to 25 hours per week, limited to 1,000 hours per fiscal year and is "at-will". Candidates must be available to work all assigned shifts, including evenings, weekends, split shifts, and holidays.
SUMMARY : Under general supervision, assists in the safe delivery of general recreation and sports programs and activities; assists with special events and the maintenance of recreation facilities; performs related duties as required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Assists the Parks and Recreation Department team members with various tasks to help meet the program services goals.
- Assists with coordinating sports and recreation programs, activities, excursions, and special events; collects and distributes supplies and materials for special events.

- Assists with supervising various recreation programs and activities; verifies that supplies, equipment, and facilities are in order, and recommends supply needs to the supervisor; monitors participants' behavior and resolves issues within scope of authority and training.
- Sets up and maintains recreation facilities for special events and scheduled programs; maintains general appearance of park facilities by cleaning areas in and around the facility, sweeping floors, checking and restocking restrooms, arranging equipment and other general maintenance duties.
- Picks up trash and debris and assists in the maintenance of grounds, lawns, and landscaping; maintains sports fields, and prepares for play and special events; grooms field and marks boundaries and technical frames; cleans, inspects and maintains bleachers, restrooms, lighting and periphery.
- Maintain effective communication and harmonious relationships with the public, participants, and staff.
- Demonstrate a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic attitude with children, parents and staff.
- Follows safety procedures; responds to emergency situations as they arise and follows emergency procedures; ensure that accidents and incidents are promptly documented and reported.
- Maintains City facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Rosemead and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE GUIDLINES :
Any combination of education and / or experience that has provided the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. Experience working with children of all ages in a group setting is desirable. Must be sixteen (16) years of age or older and have a valid work permit, if applicable.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Class C California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record. May be required to obtain an American Red Cross Standards First Aid Certificate or equivalent.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
Work is performed indoors and outdoors at City recreation facilities and venues. May be required to travel to various sites, locations, and / or events. Frequent lifting up to 80 lbs. Pushing / pulling, bending, kneeling, holding, reaching, and grasping. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the class and have mobility, balance, coordination, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed. Team members are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Team members are required to assume duties of a disaster worker in the event of a locally declared emergency.
