What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Recreation Leader position at City of Rosemount?
The Assistant Recreation Leader is responsible for working with children at various parks and is responsible for planning and conducting activities and special events.
Essential Duties- Ensure the guidance and safety of all children in the park
- Plan and lead activities for different age groups
- Promote all recreational programs
- Other duties as assigned
- At least 16 years of age
- Knowledge and experience in working with children age 3-15
- Interest in instructing and working with children
- Skills in teaching crafts, games, stories, and nature activities
- Ability to bring and express new ideas for the program
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good leadership skills
- Must be able to provide own transportation to and from work
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to youth and adults
- Sound judgment and ability to make proper decisions
- Accountability; following through on commitments, focusing on tasks, taking responsibility for actions, following all policies and procedures, and being prepared and punctual for all scheduled shifts
Tools and Equipment
General tools and equipment will include personal computer, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, telephone and portable telephone, two-way radio, various handwriting items, automobile, van or pickup truck.
Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, hand, feel or operate objects; and reach out with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and occasionally lift weights up to one hundred (100) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, moderately noisy in the remainder of the indoor facilities, and moderately noisy in the outdoor facilities.
The employee is frequently exposed to changes in temperature. The working environment includes indoor temperatures where there is air conditioning and heating, outdoor weather conditions of heat and cold as well as possible snow and rain.
The employee will be scheduled on evenings and weekends and may be scheduled occasionally on holidays.
