What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS Intern position at City of Rosemount?
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position will remain open until filled, with the first review of applications being February 2nd
The GIS Intern will perform entry-level to semi-skilled office and field tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the City of Rosemount’s GIS functions and asset management systems. This temporary position will work 30-40 hours per week approximately May through August.

· Collect and enter geospatial and attribute data in the office and field with GPS, ESRI ArcGIS, and asset-management hardware, software, and mobile applications
· Create, edit, and update features in geodatabases and shapefiles
· Scan and relate plans, manuals, etc. to GIS assets
· Perform other work related to the operation and maintenance of the City's GIS, GIS applications, and asset management systems.
Minimum Qualifications
· High school diploma or G.E.D., with a minimum of one (1) year vocational or college course work in GIS Geography, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field of study; or an equivalent combination of training and experience required to perform work.
· Candidates should meet one of the following criteria:
o Currently enrolled in an accredited college program;
o Eligible to receive a degree/certificate following the completion of the internship, or
o Have recently graduated with a related degree or certificate
· Valid Driver's License
Desirable Qualifications
· Basic knowledge of Public Works infrastructure: underground utility piping, pavements, structures and appurtenances
· Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and drawings
· Ability to read and interpret legal property descriptions
· Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
· Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS desktop 10.x and ArcGIS Online
· Desire to learn on the job
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
· Ability to operate a City vehicle
