Part-Time Gymnastics Instructor I

Provide gymnastics instruction to children of all ages and abilities with a fun, upbeat attitude while promoting a safe and exciting learning environment.The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

• Present program curriculum in an energetic, cheerful tone to maintain a positive environment for the participants. 
• Greet participants at the start of each class and make yourself available following class for communication with parents.
• Follow appropriate safety procedures and provided lesson plans for recreational classes with daily set-up and clean-up of stations.
• Direct and manage a group of participants in an educational, safe learning environment
• Monitor and spot athletes as they perform on various apparatus, intervening to correct technique where necessary.  
• Organize and put away gym equipment to help maintain facility cleanliness.
• Attend staff meetings, complete training and provide input and feedback on programming to the Supervisor 
• Complete participant attendance, handout assessments and paperwork, and finalize timesheets on time.
• Perform various tasks requested by Supervisor 
• Continually shows respect for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and interests. Exhibits sensitivity to the needs of diverse audiences in all duties performed on behalf of the City to support Roseville in building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment and community. 
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

• Possess a cheerful, energetic, caring demeanor with children
• On time and reliable.  Arrive with proper prep time prior to start of scheduled class
• Knowledge and experience working with youth, gymnastics background preferred
• Basic reading, math, writing, communication, and problem solving skills equivalent to that of a High School level.
• Must complete provided concussion training and basic first aid.

Most work is performed in a gymnastics center; however, there is exposure to a multitude of elements including stress, pressure, and inability to control work pace. Occasionally the job may involve working with and calming individuals who are emotionally charged over an issue. The position requires attendance at evening and weekend practices and events. 

Frequent lifting of 20 pounds or more is required around 25% of the time. 

GYMNASTICS INSTRUCTOR I is responsible for varied technical, complex, and confidential functions, many of which have deadlines and require significant attention to detail. Approximately 90% of the time, work is performed at the highest level of attention to youth under your supervision.

Activities that occur constantly (5–8 hours/shift): talking, hearing, feeling, walking, and repetitive motions 
Activities that occur frequently (2–5 hours/shift): lifting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
Activities that occur occasionally (up to 2 hours/shift): reading, eye/hand/foot coordination, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, reaching, handling, and grasping

Salary : $14 - $17
