In this role, you will craft news releases, long-form narratives and digital content that break down complex projects and initiatives into clear, compelling messages for our residents. The right candidate will be able to uncover and share the compelling stories behind our city's progress to keep our community informed and inspired.
Under general supervision, the Public Information Specialist is highly engaged in internal and external communication from content creation to implementation and dissemination of information through a variety of formats.
Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.
Examples of Duties
- Assists in the implementation of a variety of marketing and public information tactics.
- Writes and produces content for multi-media and/or media outlets including articles, press releases, advertisement, newsletters, brochures, and special events.
- Contributes and updates internal and external website content.
Assigned to Communications & Marketing Department:
- Works with team to develop content for various communication channels, execute the strategy and track results and progress.
- Ensures website content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone, and optimized for search and social promotion.
- Assists in the coverage of various special events, including groundbreakings, ribbon cutting ceremonies, and City Council events.
Experience and Training
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university in Communications, Journalism, or a related field is required.
- Two (2) or more years of creating internal or external communications or similar experience is required. Additional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Certificates and Licenses Required
- Valid driver license.
