What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Maintenance Worker Senior position at City of Round Rock?
Under general supervision, this position maintains parks and aquatic facilities, including open space, athletic fields, and facilities; assists and performs various duties to support special events.
Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.
- Performs daily rounds of facilities to pick up trash, empty cans, and inspect areas for damage/vandalism; checks facilities for plumbing, lights, etc.
- Maintains grounds by mowing, edging, trimming park areas and fields, watering, shaving infields, aerating and applying chemicals for weeds. Maintains facilities by repairing/replacing doors, gates, fences, minor repairs, and painting. Repairs playground structures and cleans trails.
- Performs irrigation checks and repairs.
- Cleans restrooms, driveways, and windows; power washes pavilions.
- Provides preventive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance of aquatic facilities and pool equipment; orders pool chemicals, ensures safe handling and storage of chemicals, interprets water chemistry tests; makes adjustments, as needed.
- Checks fluids in vehicles and maintains air pressure in tires; cleans vehicles, filters, and radiators.
- Completes and works on light/small construction projects.
- Completes and maintains all records as required by law; prepares and reconciles expense reports, and obtains bids and quotes for projects and supplies. Oversees work performed by contractors.
- Provides support for special events’ needs through preparation, assembly, and tear down of temporary lighting, utilities, structures, props, etc., including carpentry, electrical, painting, general services, and clean up.
- Performs preventive maintenance and electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, etc., work on facilities, parks, amenities, complexes, shelters, restrooms, etc.
- Provides skilled tasks in support of construction of new amenities and utilities in parks, including concrete work.
- High school graduation or GED equivalent is required.
- At least one (1) year of experience in general labor/maintenance work is required.
- Proven leadership skills are preferred.
- Texas Class C driver's license is required.
- Depending on assigned division, job-specific certifications and licenses may be required.
This position may require you to have or acquire a commercial driver's license (CDL). Federal law requires all CDL holders register with the USDOT Clearinghouse before operating a commercial vehicle. You will be required to enroll in the clearinghouse and sign a consent form allowing the City to run your name through the clearinghouse as a condition of employment.
