- Acts as a direct representative of the City and Department related to customer service requests and resident interaction
- Oversees and monitors the daily operations of the Streets Division
- Reviews, evaluates, and documents work order requests
- Reviews in-progress and completed maintenance projects
- Prioritizes, schedules and assigns maintenance and repair work orders
- Hires, trains and supervises assigned streets maintenance staff
- Responds to citizens’ requests for repairs, questions, and complaints
- Prepares and conducts safety meetings for staff
- Assists with monitoring budget, project costs and ordering of materials and supplies as authorized
- Utilizes work order management software (IWorQ, SeeClickFix, PASER, etc.)
- Maintain and document all aspects related to 811 and franchise repairs/damages
- Reviews and approves employee time sheets and leave requests
- Oversees and participates in the maintenance of streets, alleys, sidewalks, curbs, and rights-of-ways
- Cleans culverts and pipes for adequate storm water drainage and performs repairs as needed
- Monitors and maintains street signs and traffic control devices
- Assists with traffic control at construction and maintenance sites
- Maintains streets maintenance equipment
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Inspects contractor paving projects
- Works with other departments to assist with city wide events by staging barricades, portable message trailers, etc.
- Participates in emergency response by overseeing barricade staging and placement during severe weather and flooding and road sanding operations during icy conditions.
- Participates and assists with periodic employee evaluations and documentation
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
- Knowledge of street and right-of-way maintenance principles and practices
- Knowledge of safe work methods and techniques
- Skill in supervising and delegating duties to assigned staff
- Skill in overseeing and participating in streets maintenance projects
- Skill in utilizing a variety of tools and equipment for street maintenance
- Skill in utilizing appropriate methods and techniques for street repair and maintenance
- Skill in effective oral and written communication
- Knowledge of concrete/asphalt mixtures and testing procedures
- Knowledge related to the replacement of ADA ramps per current regulations
- Skill in utilizing and maintaining work orders and tracking of projects (IWorQ, SeeClickFix, PASER, etc.)
- High School diploma or equivalent, and more than five (5) years streets and/or parks maintenance experience including one (1) year lead or supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must pass a post-offer pre-employment drug screening and/or physical exam.
- Must possess State of Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of hire.
- May be required to acquire additional certification.
- Work is performed in an outdoor environment.
- May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling and lifting.
- May be subject to dangerous machinery, exposure to extreme weather conditions, potential for physical harm, hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases.
- Equipment utilized includes City vehicle, backhoe, dump trucks, tractors, mowers, shovels, picks, rakes, brooms, hammers, saws, drills, concrete tools and other construction and maintenance related tools and equipment.
- Additional hours and “on-call” requests may be required as needed
Salary : $59,437 - $71,324
