JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMER GROUP LEADER
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under close supervision of the Recreation Facility Manager, or designee. Performs varied routine
duties in assisting the Leisure Services Department. Work is performed with some independence.
Work is reviewed through conferences and results obtained.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervise children ages 5 to 12 in structured camp programs for all weeks of public-school summer.
Plan and implement daily activities.
Supervise field trips and swim days; before and after camp care.
Performs special assignments and/or other duties as assigned.
Evening and/or weekend work will be required.
Transport participants in 15 passenger van.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Knowledge of a variety of recreational activities and equipment.
Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the play of a variety of recreational games.
Ability to responsibly oversee the use of a recreational facility.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous relationships with the public.
Ability to maintain simple records.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Demonstrated reliability and dependability.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Skill in the safe operation of a light motor vehicle.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, or GED; available 8-13 weeks of summer, age 18 , and abilities. Must have CPR
, AED (automated external defibrillator and First Aid within six (6) months. Valid Florida Driver’s
License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Reaching, bending, and lifting.
Use of fingers, use of hands.
Sitting, standing, walking, running.
Ability to access, input and retrieve information and data from a computer.
Ability to access file cabinets for filing and retrieval of data.
Lifting objects 15-50lbs.
