This position performs semi-skilled manual labor, focusing on general grounds and facilities maintenance tasks throughout the City of Saginaw.

Major Duties

  • Performs manual labor such as snow shoveling, raking, litter cleanup, sweeping, hauling debris, and other related tasks.
  • Mows and trims grass as needed at assigned parks and property throughout the City.
  • Performs parks set-up for special events as assigned
  • Assists in lawn and landscape maintenance including cutting and edging grass, planting, watering and care for trees shrubs and flowers.
  • May work with brush collection and yard waste as needed or assigned.
  • May assist with asphalt overlays and concrete road repairs as needed.

    Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Prior experience in performing a variety of manual labor tasks.
  • Experience in the operation of various equipment used in grounds maintenance and landscaping.
  • Must have attendance record acceptable to management.
  • Must have a valid State of Michigan driver's license.

    Physical demands - includes things like, bending, stooping, lifting, reaching, lifting etc.
