COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST: Join our team and unlock your potential.The City of Saint Peter has an open position for a Community Development Specialist. Under the direction and general supervision of the Community Development Director, the Community Development Specialist performs a variety of complex office responsibilities, undertakes special projects, and assists the Community Development Director as needed. The Community Development Specialist, with their professional skills and knowledge, helps to: coordinate licensing, land use/zoning permits, mapping, proofreading, notices, meeting packets, meeting minutes, resolutions, loan files, land records, department information, and advisory board members (terms, meeting quorum, communication); and assist with planning, zoning, building, economic development, historic preservation, housing, transportation, and business licensing. The “MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS” for this position: Associates Degree or equivalent/related field; One (1) or more years of experience working in an office setting with similar duties; experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with customer service; and a valid driver’s license. The “DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS” for this position: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent/related field; two (2) or more years of experience working in an office setting with similar duties; advanced experience and proficiency in use of standard software (Microsoft Suite); experience using permit/licensing software; knowledge of City regulations (building, zoning, business, public works); Experience reading maps and using Geographic Information Systems, such as Schneider Corp/Beacon, ESRI/ArcGIS, or county/city/consultant GIS; Experience working in Federal, State or local unit government office; Demonstrated ability to speak conversational Spanish or Somali.
